ANGLICISMS IN “MARIA MOLINER” DICTIONARY

Because of the 50th aniversary of the Maria Moliner dictionary´s first edition (1966), the group 4th ESO “A”  of the high school, whose name is the author's name,  have worked on a project which consists of looking up anglicisms and drawing conclusions.
We have used two Maria Moliner dictionaries (1990 and 2016 editions). We have also used an English dictionary to compare the meanings of the words and determinate if they were in both. Furthermore, we have done a research to know why  anglicisms are included in Maria Moliner´s dictionary, if they have an equivalent in Spanish. We have confirmed that in the new edition of Maria Moliner dictionary  there are many  more anglicisms than in the old one.
In the same way, we have observed the pronunciation and spelling differences of these words in the different dictionaries.

Conclusion
The anglicisms are words of English origin that are included in the Spanish dictionaries because we use them very often. Examples could be the words that we found in Maria Moliner's dictionary, where we can see that anglicisms existed and have been used for a long time.

We have concluded that anglicisms have been introduced in our language (Spanish) for many reasons:
-They are faster and shorter to write and to pronounce.
-They are used by everybody, due to cultural impact of the English speaking countries.
-Their pronunciation is modern and fashionable.
-If the words are translated, they may lose accuracy.
-They're necessary because sometimes there aren't exact Spanish meanings.
-In technology and science, it is more desirable to use the English words.
-Because of American films, we get used to using their expressions.
